The Onam celebration for the academic year 2025-2026 was conducted at our school
on August 29th, Friday. The celebrations began with the lamp lighting ceremony, which
was performed by the School Manager, Rev. Dr. Bino Cheriyil OSB, the Principal, Rev.
Fr. Ajeesh Kunjarakkattu OSB, along with student representatives. The official function
started at 9:00 AM.
Following the inaugural ceremony, a Mega Thiruvathira dance performance was
presented by the students, followed by a Thiruvathira performance by the teachers.
After this, various Onam games were organized across different venues for different
classes. Students participated with great enthusiasm, and prizes were awarded to the
winners.A Tug of War competition was also arranged, conducted house-wise for both
girls’ and boys’ teams. By 12:00 noon, all the Onam games concluded, and students
were sent for lunch.
After lunch, the cultural activities commenced in the school auditorium. The celebrations
began with the symbolic visit of King Mahabali. The stage was opened with a
mesmerizing performance of the traditional art form Kathakali. Students from
Kindergarten, Lower Section, Middle Section, and Upper Section performed various
cultural programs, including songs and dances.A House-wise Onam Song Competition
was also conducted, showcasing the talents of the students. Teachers added to the
charm of the event with their own dance performance.
The cultural program concluded with the traditional art forms of Pulikali (Tiger Dance)
and Chendamelam (traditional percussion ensemble). Finally, Payasam (sweet pudding)
was distributed to all students and staff, marking the end of the celebrations.
The Onam celebration was a grand success, spreading joy, unity, and cultural
awareness among students and staff.
